Top 10 MMORPG Games and Why Are They Still Up There

I love playing MMORPG’s as they are one of the best games that will make you stay PUT. MMORPG means Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. Yes, its meaning tells us everything. This kind of play should keep you close to the game, every day there should be something new that you need to do. I tried a lot of MMORPG games like Neverwinter, WoW, TERA, The Elder Scrolls Online, etc… You can see the top 10 MMORPG games below.

The only reason I stopped playing a lot of them and kept playing the only one tells me everything. I am not going to say to you right now; you will see the number one game that is listed by Future Games Releases.

Top 10 MMORPG Games – Choose your second life:

10. RIFT

Released by Trion Worlds in early 2011, Rift takes place in the world of Telara where players take on the personality of an “Ascended.” Two competing factions of Ascended, the Guardians and the Defiant, battle through the monsters of Telara to bring down Regulos, a dragon god bent on the complete destruction of Telara.

Rift is one of the best clones of World of Warcraft. Why? Rifts, Invasions, Quests, and Raids which makes the Ingame world more deadly and fun to play. You can also see the interface of the game on the picture. It’s similar to WoW’s, Spells placement, buffs, debuffs etc…

Rift classes:

Cleric. Cabalist. Druid. Inquisitor. Justicar. Purifier. Sentinel. Shaman. Warden. Mage. Archon. Dominator. Elementalist. Necromancer. Pyromancer. Stormcaller. Warlock. Assassin. Bard. Marksman. Nightblade. Ranger. Riftstalker. Saboteur. Beastmaster. Champion. Paragon. Riftblade. Void Knight. Warlord.

Is it worth trying RIFT? Of Course, Rift is good and have decent gameplay, and it’s also for free. This game can also be found on Steam.

9. ArcheAge

ArcheAge is an MMORPG developed by Korean developer Jake Song and his development company, XL Games. The game was released in Korea on January 15, 2013, Europe and North America on September 16, 2014, and has also had a closed beta in China. Wikipedia

ArcheAge is a game with a perfect questing line. But the questing and its story can be quickly forgotten. It’s pretty big, especially the ocean. You do not even need to try and get the questing line. It’s better if you go on a boat and take a ride in the ocean.

The good part is that deep into the ocean you can find mysterious “thingies.” Shipwrecks filled with bounty. Everyone loves that :).  Maybe you will try to do something against the KRAKEN too. Yes, there is a KRAKEN.

Well, the sad thing is that the game is a little bit p2w, which means pay to win. Why? No one pushes you to succeed and be the most active character in the game. But there are a lot of wealthy people that can buy everything they like.

That’s why it deserves to be number 9.

8. Star Trek Online

Star Trek Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Cryptic Studios based on the Star Trek series created by Gene Roddenberry. The game is set in the 25th century, 30 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis. Cryptic Studios are standing up in this MMO’s list because they are pushing themselves so hard and they do prove that they are serious contenders over the next best MMORPG game.

In Star Trek Online, players may choose one of three career paths (sometimes also classes, previously called “professions”) they wish their character to follow (Tactical, Engineering, Science).

With Episode Missions, every moment spent playing Star Trek Online will feel like a new Star Trek episode in which you are the star.

The experience is excellent as you can get a trip to DS9, Risa and get space battles with Romulans, Cardassians and with whoever is standing your path. The space fights are a bit too tactical. The best thing is that this game is growing up as new updates are coming in this game (seems like they never stop). What sets is apart from other MMO’s is their ships and you do not need to level up, you only need to customize.

7. TERA

A little bit childish with sexy girl characters. That’s what most of the people want, right? I think they tried to aim at the young population by doing this.

Tera is a 3D fantasy-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Bluehole Studio.

This game sticks somewhat close to WoW’s template of gameplay. They kind of keep it close to WoW, but not that much like RIFT. Tera is a free to play game, and it’s excellent action fights makes this game even more beautiful. Everything seems calm in the very beginning until you go deeper in the game and start fighting those Big Monsters. Killing, movement and close fights in this game are what it stands out most from others.

In the very end, I still find this game quite annoying. But for a short period of playing, it pays out. You can cooler your brain by playing this game for a period. Worth trying as the game is free to play.

6. The Elder Scrolls Online

The Elder Scrolls Online is a massively multiplayer online role-playing video game developed by ZeniMax Online Studios. It was initially released on April 4, 2014, for Microsoft Windows and OS X.

The Elder Scrolls Online deserve to be in this spot only because of the fantastic game graphics. Everything looks just so real. The game has a kind, and decent questing line, even tho some of them are not that understandable. Flying mounts… I forgot to say about that in the games above. It’s not just this game that’s missing flying mounts tho. We’ll meet them afterward, do not worry.

The exploration in this game is it’s strong side because the textures are nice. When it comes to fights, they are not that good.

The game is one time buy, no monthly fees no nothing. Worth trying if you love to enjoy the textures and start exploring the world as much as you can.

This game taught us that a large scale questing is not that good. It distracts the fun you need. The only thing kept me in the game was the PVP arenas and battlegrounds.

This game is on Steam.

Classes

The Elder Scrolls Online has four classes currently available for play. Dragon Knight, Sorcerer, Templar, and a Nightblade.

5. Neverwinter

Neverwinter is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Cryptic Studios and released by Perfect World Entertainment for Microsoft Windows in 2013, Xbox One in 2015, and PlayStation 4 in 2016.

Now, this game speaks for itself. This game is a must try as the team fights are insanely good. I love the community of this game. Everyone is just awesome, and the pvp areas are excellent. Haven’t played it in a while, but still, this game was entertaining to play. The only problem with Neverwinter is missing of the flying mounts. But, the ground mounts are nice. Too bad you are going to work a lot harder to get one of those. Do not know what is going now over there, but I think it’s needed.

It’s more like a daily game in chasing of the wards for making easier for successful high level enchanting.

Its theme says everything, Dungeons, and Dragons. Yeah, guess what, you will meet a lot of dragons on the way, and they are not that easy to kill.

Neverwinter

Started playing as a rogue and found it interesting while the GWF’s were too OP and everyone played them. It was tough to find a group for dungeons as a Rogue. Then, guess what, I made a new toon, cleric. The devoted cleric was so fun to play because you need to keep everyone alive. I remember Pirate King’s dungeon was fun and fast to finish. Castle Never was a little bit hard, but overall the game was excellent. I remember when Temple of The Spider was broken, don’t know if it’s still tho, but there were a couple of shortcuts where you can take.

The only problem with this game was the dailies. Yes, they were a pain in the a**.

4. Lord of the Rings Online

The Lord of the Rings Online, initially branded as The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game for Microsoft Windows and OS X set in a fantasy universe based upon J. R. R.

The good guys are Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Hobbits which are playable races in the Lord of the Rings Online.

There’s always something amazingly beautiful around the corner for you to explore. In this game, teamwork is more important than solo. You can pretty much solo the game, but for the dungeons part, you are going to need a team. If you team up you will feel the fun coming into you, and you are going to love to play the game even more, but only if you get a decent team.

The lord of the rings let you develop your character with multiple skill trees for three different types (offense, defense, cc,) primarily for each class. There are a lot of passives too!

The world, at first sight, seems unbelievable which makes you enjoy the game pretty much.

3. Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by ArenaNet and published by NCSOFT.

This game is one of the most strange MMORPG’S out there. From regular questing to working together with other people, while also having an impact on the region they are in, such as reducing threat for the time being.

This game is PVP focused while they created tournaments letting people compete for real money.

Thanks to the heart of thorns expansion this game came back on the table amongst the others, and that’s why it deserves this position on the market. The only problem is that you need to buy the expansion, but the core game remains free.

Guild Wars 2 raids seem to be nice. But, however, it’s not that much played like some other MMO’s out there.

2. Fantasy XIV Online

Final Fantasy XIV, also known as Final Fantasy XIV Online, is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game for Microsoft Windows personal computers, developed and published by Square Enix in 2010.

In the beginning, this game was real trash. But as the community grows large and people started loving the game, the developers answered. Now, we can enjoy this awesome game! We can spend hours talking about this game. The visual technology is excellent, and there are some excellent cut scenes.

Character creations showcase the slip character models, and there are some winning races and disciplines to choose from. This is the only game where players have great flexibility with their class choice. Your goal is to hit level 10 and get the ability to any of the other eight combat classes with just the switch of the weapon.

The interface is terrible; you need to click a lot of keys on the menu to access different parts of your inventory. You will need to create macros instead of setting up hotkeys to select your opponent or enemy and cycle through them. This is the sad part of the game. You cannot zoom in and out on the map, which is also wrong too.

1. World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994.

This is the only game that will never die. After a decade and still growing. Now, they are going to release the new Legion patch for which I am pretty excited. Cannot wait to see it. Overall the graphics… come on, we all know everything about this game, and it’s one of the most MMO’s that support flying mounts and have a ton of them. They do look nice too! Transmogs, ah, every professional player’s wish. Everyone is farming this like h***.

For a game that old, with a lot of expansions in its way. This one is the best MMORPG that ever came out. I can see this game never die and will always be number one.

The Raids are pretty impressive, and there is not a single game that does it like this. Invasions, Rifts, everything is just so perfect.

PVP, Battlegrounds, you cannot say any negative word about it. Just perfect as I said in every single paragraph.

The only problem could be that you need to pay a monthly fee to play it. But, the moment you get active and experienced is the moment when you start to buy your gameplay tokens with gold

Thanks to Blizzard Entertainment for releasing this neverending fantastic game.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
