Pokemon Go Equinox Event Tips and Preparation Suggestions

A new event is coming to Pokemon Go and new adventures await. During this event, called Equinox, players can earn x2 Stardust when catching and hatching Eggs, x3 XP on new Pokedex entries, can get Special packages in the Shop, the 2km Eggs will start to hatch Larvitar, Mareep, Chancy and the hatching process can speed up with the Super Incubator by x1.5.

In the following post, I will give some tips and preparation suggestions that can be used regarding the upcoming Equinox Event.

The special 2km Eggs can be acquired from spinning Pokestops and Photodisks at Gyms. It will be also a good idea to empty your Egg box. If you want to avoid the new Eggs as soon as you hatch one, you can just catch Pokemon until you reach the storage limit. But remember that you must have 1 empty slot when doing a raid, otherwise you can’t catch the Raid Boss.

To buy an incubator to get rid of the old 2 and 5km Eggs is quite tempting, but nobody knows which types of discounts or boxes Niantic will offer when the event starts. If you do not want to wait until the event, use them on 5km eggs instead of the 2km eggs, which have the chance to be hatched with the Infinite Incubator.

If a new Pokedex Entry is combined with a raid of the new legendary beast that will appear at the very end of the month, you can earn 23000+ EXP in just 5 minutes.

When a Pokemon is caught during the event, it will give you 2x the amount of Stardust. It could be quite helpful to fill your inventory with a big amount of balls when trying to obtain Stardust faster. Cluster spawns are also amazing for grinding as fast as possible.

There is a new statement which confirms that Mareep, Chansey and Larvitar can be hatched from the special 2km Eggs. If the special Eggs include the same Pokemon as in the Safari event that was 2 days ago, or the Yokohama event, which were: Dratini, Larvitar, Mareep, Snorlax, Lapras, Chansey, Magikarp, Pineco, Pichu, Miltank, Skarmory, Aerodactyl and Chinchou, it might be best to wait to get a good IV candidate to power up, as it will be easier than ever.

If you want to maximize the outcome, you might as well get rid of the old 2 and 5km eggs before the event starts. Unless it is necessary, try to wait before powering up a low IV rare Pokemon.

Pokemon Go Equinox event starts on September 22 at 1:00 PM PDT and ends on October 2 at 1:00 PM PDT.
