Niantic to Ditch Pokemon Go Over a Harry Potter AR Game? Update: Niantic officially announced their new HP project

Update: It is now confirmed by Niantic, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is their new project in co-op with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and WB Games San Francisco’s development team. The game will feature spells, discover and fight Legendary Beasts and team up to take down enemies. Check out their official statement here. Also, here is the official Harry Potter website.

Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will leverage the full stack of the Niantic Platform while also providing an opportunity to pioneer all new technology and gameplay mechanics –

Does this mean Niantic is de-focusing on Pokemon go?

Previous story: The magical world of wizards and moguls is about to change. We are talking about a new Harry Potter: Wizards Unite mobile game (previously announced Harry Potter Go, see the video below), a new project by Niantic, set to release sometime in 2018, as reported by TechCrunch.

TechCrunch has written, “The app is now official, but the details are still scarce, with the launch timeframe of just sometime next year, but it sounds like there will be significant influence from the Niantic game Ingress.”

It says ‘official’, but Niantic and Warner Bros haven’t shared any info about details or release date of the game itself. However, if this is true, Pokemon Go may lose a lot of its players, as Niantic might focus on their new creation and reduce the release of new content in the game. At the end who doesn’t want to play a new game, with herbs, spells, potion making and magical beasts?

Dear Niantic, please focus on Pokemon Go!
