Quake Champions new update brings new Champion, Strogg & Peeker

I’d love to jump and say hey, this, this new Champion feels a bit overpowered. After multiple games we have discovered there’s still a way to play against it, confirming the game’s overall balance is still at a reasonable level. Quake Champions new champion is Strogg & Peeker, and as always, Bethesda hasn’t missed the chance to crown this update with a new champion trailer.

Over the past, id Software has done exceptional work in Quake Champions, and since it’s closed alpha, the game entered Early Access quite fast. Considered as a father of FPS games among fans, it inevitably brings up iconic moments and mechanics the game offers.

For those who do not know or forgotten about Quake Champions, the game entered Early Access and had kept on receiving updates. After obtaining the base Champions pool, multiple other Champions were added within updates. In the free version of the game, players can play only with Ranger, and paid version unlocks several champions, depends on the purchased pack.

With this April update, the game not only got a new champion with a unique special ability but also received a new map, Awoken. Among other things, a further balance between Champions is also done, improving the gameplay experience for every player. Below you can find more details:

New Champion: Strogg & Peeker

  • Ability Drone Strike: Strogg enters a camouflaged state and deploys his drone. He assumes control of the drone, which can fly around and shoot at players using its Hyperblaster. Using the ability again causes the drone to accelerate forward and detonate upon collision.
  • Passive Stroyent Cell: Gather Stroyent capsules from your corpses of his enemies that heal his wounds.New Map: Awoken
  • In the vine-choked valleys beyond Zar’s templed terraces, a monument to the Queen of Ciphers looms over what remains of the Temple of Forgetting.

  • Increased the base movement speed for all Light and Medium Champions
  • Preserved the uncapped max speeds for most Champions but applied speed caps for Champions with special movement mechanics – sacrificing their max speed in favor of maneuverability
  • Increased the air acceleration for all Champions (except Visor), for improved dodging and strafe jumping
  • Anarki / Sorlag air control is more fluid, but gain less speed on initial jumps
  • Slash crouchslide is now more fluid
  • Ranger Dire Orb splash radius reduced
