Red Dead Redemption 2 could get a Battle Royale mode as well

As you know, the BR genre currently shakes the whole world, and as we’re getting close to the end of Red Dead Redemption 2 development cycle, there have been new rumors appearing on the radar. However, the main question is what kind of experience will a Battle Royale genre offer in Red Dead Redemption 2?

Well, now that we have the most popular BR game, Fortnite, it is most likely to see video games striking the close bar next to Fortnite, or in other words, try to bring the most identical experience as in Fortnite. But it just won’t be that suitable for a Title such as Red Dead Redemption 2, since it doesn’t fit the setting.

Furthermore, the CEO Strauss Zelnick has already stated that no one would love to create another Fortnite but also claimed that Take-Two has already used Battle Royale mechanics.

We’ve used battle royale mechanics before. I wouldn’t rule it out, but any mechanic you use would want to be in service of the core entertainment experience and would be consumer-focused. Revenue focus wouldn’t drive it in our view. And if one is overly derivative of another’s success, you pretty much guarantee you’re not going to have your success, because no one is looking for a clone of Fortnite. I wish we had Fortnite — we don’t — so hoping we had Fortnite is not going to help me.

That doesn’t mean you wouldn’t use a mechanic that’s in other games… We’re certainly not averse to using something created by someone else in service of a kind experience in our games. So there are moments when you might choose to be derivative for some small portion of a game, but I think there’s a lot of emphasis on questions that have been posed more pointedly by some which are, ‘Hey, look at Fortnite, shouldn’t everything you do be some example of Fortnite?’ The answer is not. If we turned an upcoming release into a sad, diluted version of Fortnite, I can assure you it would fail, in addition to being embarrassing [for the brand].

Now if we try to read between the lines it somewhat implies as a confirmation that Red Dead Redemption 2 will receive a BR mode, or at least the mode’s being worked on. Being one of the most anticipated titles in 2018, it will be quite amusing to experience yet another BR mode, considering that is the most successful game mode which surely grown up into its genre.
