Trainers, this is just in! The mythical Pokemon Celebi is coming to Pokemon Go on August 20 as Special Research.
TL;DR
Starting from August 20:
- Celebi Special Research (can be started when you have done part 3 of Mew special quest)
- Johto Region Pokemon will have increased spawn rate.
- New Research tasks related to Johto Pokemon
- New cosmetic items (available now) – A new Celebi T-shirt is now available for free in the Style Shop. Plus, Pokemon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver Trainer avatar items are also available in the Style Shop, featuring outfits that unlock according to your Johto medal progress.

Now, as announced on the official Pokemon Go website, players can begin completing Special Research on Celebi at any time as long as the player has completed the third group of tasks related to the Special Research on Mew and actively finish tasks related to both.
Players who already completed the exclusive Pokemon Go Fest Special Research and already have Celebi, completing the new Special Research will get you Candy.
