Update 4/24/2019: Trainers, the Meltan event has begun, so you’re safe to open the Mystery Box! Let’s catch those shinies!
Previous Story 4/19/2019: Trainers, Pokemon Go’s official Japanese website announced the return of the Mythical Pokemon Meltan and its shiny form as part of a limited time event.
The Mythical Shiny Pokemon Meltan is coming back to Pokemon Go once again and in order to catch Meltan, it’s essential to have a Mystery Box, which can be received by sending Pokemon from Pokemon Go to Pokemon Let’s Go series on the Switch.
In addition, Meltan’s evolution Melmetal can only evolve in Pokemon Go and will require 400 Meltan Candy.
Here are the details about the Shiny Meltan event:
- Start Date/Time/End Date: April 24 at 8:00 PM UTC to May 5 at 8:00 PM UTC
- Shiny Meltan from Mystery Box
- Mystery Boxes can be opened once every three days
Our advice, don’t open the Mystery Box prior to the 24th and make sure you wait until the event has started to open it and get Shiny Meltan. If you open the Mystery Box before the 24th, you will have to wait 7 days. So, wait until the 24th, open the Mystery Box when the event goes live and then wait another 3 days to open another Mystery Box.
