Pokemon Go Niantic Discontinued Support for Apple Watch

Trainers, Niantic will be ending the support for Apple Watch and this change will start to take effect after July 1, 2019.

Niantic announced that they will be ending Pokemon Go support for Apple Watch devices after July 1, 2019. This means that players using Apple Watch will no longer be able to connect their watch to Pokemon Go.

They explained:

Adventure Sync allows Trainers the option of tracking their steps, earning Buddy Candy, and hatching Eggs in one mobile device rather than 2 separate devices, we want to focus on building Adventure Sync so that Trainers will no longer have to split their gameplay between 2 devices.

This means that Niantic wants us to use Adventure Sync and the fitness app on our phones to track steps and earn rewards. Now for some, it’s easier to wear an Apple Watch and do your thing instead of running with a smartphone, but it is what it is and changes will come in a month. Well, forget about hatching Eggs faster now.

Now, to activate the Adventure Sync on your mobile, you should:

  • Tap Menu
  • Tap Settings
  • Tap on Adventure Sync and turn it on

and make sure to enable locations and connect to either Apple Health of Google Fit.

Now you know why Adventure Sync is broken on iOS.
