Pokemon Go Purification Costs for Group 1, 2 and 3 Shadow Pokemon

Some Shadow Pokemon now Require Less Stardust and Candy to be Purified

Trainers, there are three groups of Shadow Pokemon that require a specific amount of Stardust and Candy to be purified and each purified Pokemon cost less to power up and evolve.

After catching a Shadow Pokemon, you can choose to Purify the Pokemon with a combination of Stardust and Candy. Purifying a Shadow Pokemon will make it stronger and reduce the amount of Stardust and Candy required to Power Up, Evolve, or learn a new attack.

After the GM update which happened on July 31, the Purification costs for Shadow Pokemon went down, except for Starter Pokemon – the cost increased.

New Purification costs for Shadow Pokemon

The Shadow Pokemon require Stardust and Candy to be purified and it looks like Niantic and Pokemon Go have reduced the amount of Stardust and Candy needed for some Pokemon to be purified. They also increased the Purification costs for Starter Pokemon.

There are three groups of Shadow Pokemon waiting to be purified and each group requires a different amount of Stardust and Candy for the process.

Group 1

The following Pokemon require 1,000 Stardust and 1 Candy to be purified:

  • Magikarp (requires -40 Candy instead of 400 to evolve if purified)
  • Rattata (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)
  • Zubat (requires -5 Candy instead of 50 to evolve if purified)

Group 2

The following Pokemon require 3,000 Stardust and 3 Candy to be purified:

  • Bulbasaur (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)
  • Charmander (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)
  • Drowzee (requires -5 Candy instead of 50 to evolve if purified)
  • Grimer (requires -5 Candy instead of 50 to evolve if purified)
  • Poliwag (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)
  • Squirtle (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)

Group 3

The following Pokemon require 5,000 Stardust and 5 Candy to be purified:

  • Dratini (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)
  • Ralts (requires -3 Candy instead of 25 to evolve if purified)
  • Scyther (requires -5 Candy instead of 50 to evolve if purified)
  • Snorlax

The purified Pokemon cost 10% less to power up and evolve and 20% less to unlock a second charge move as reported by the community. With that being said, each evolution will cost you less Candy:

  • 25 Candy evolution will now cost you -3 Candy – 22 Candy
  • 50 Candy evolution will now cost you -5 Candy – 45 Candy
  • 100 Candy evolution will now cost you -10 Candy – 90 Candy
  • 400 Candy evolution will now cost you -40 Candy – 360 Candy
