Ever since Pokemon Go was released, a bug is causing Gyms to disappear and it seems like Niantic and Pokemon Go don’t have any solution for the issue.
The reason for that was that the Gyms were tied to locations in the real world where the players were actually crossing into private property or were trespassing. This evoked many, many complaints.
Now, Gyms started disappearing again, but not for the same reason. This time, they started disappearing after the latest update of the game, to which the only solution was to restart the game, and the Gyms would reappear. However, restarting the app is a temporary fix that will not always work! You might end up restarting the app million times and spending a lot of time, without a positive outcome, which is a bit frustrating.
Niantic did not screen the list of locations before making them in-game landmarks way back at the beginning of the game.
According to reports, the Gyms disappear when a player plays the game and moves a couple of kilometers in a single direction without reloading the game. If a player plays in a small area it generally never happens.
It looks like the so-called “Gym Bug” is getting worse and worse and it needs to be fixed ASAP.
