Niantic and Pokemon Go Sold more than 700,000 Go Fest Tickets

Trainers, in collaboration with The Pokemon Company International, Niantic, and Pokemon Go teamed up with esteemed director Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Knives Out) to create a special new commercial that celebrates Pokemon GO Fest and honors the magic of Pokemon GO’s fourth-anniversary.

Niantic shared more details about the new Pokemon Go commercial on their blog, but what got our attention is the part where they say “we’ve already sold more than 700,000 tickets.”

Yes, that’s right. According to their announcement, more than 700,000 Pokemon Go players bought the GO Fest 2020 ticket.

With Pokemon GO Fest 2020 barely three weeks away, we could not be more excited to host this all-new, first-of-its-kind virtual event for Trainers around the world. The response from the community has been incredible, and we’ve already sold more than 700,000 tickets from more than 110 countries and regions.

If my math is not wrong, that’s over $10,500,000 million, MILLION USD! Great job Niantic! But hey, they’ll donate the Go Fest ticket sales (minimum of $5 million) to the BLM movement.

Niantic respond to the current situation in the US on their official Twitter account. They stand with the Black Community and are against white supremacy, racism, and police brutality and condemn the killings of George Floyd, Ahamud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Nina Pop, and countless other Black people.

They will be focusing on many projects, such us donating not less than $5 million from the Pokemon Go Fest 2020 ticket sale, a $100,000 donation to the Marsha P. Johnson Insitute, doing an employee match up of up to $50,000 and much more.
