Pokemon Go Should Undo some Lockdown Changes ASAP

Just as we thought that this whole COVID-19 pandemic will come to an end, it decided to swoop the whole world with more people testing positive. Since March, Niantic has tried to bring the whole “from the comfort of your home” thing to the game, but with the “increased effectiveness of Incense will now apply only while walking” bonus, players are pretty much forced to go outside.

Recently, many countries have decided to impose lockdowns and quarantine, the most recent of them being France with a mandatory lockdown of 1 month and many other European countries will follow in the weeks ahead of us.

The most recent events that were announced for Pokemon GO encourage players to go outside and catch Pokemon. We are wondering, how will Niantic deal with this new situation?

With the Incense bonus removed, it will be painful to catch Pokemon from your home. And you cannot get enough coins if you do not have a Gym near your house.

If you do decide to participate in the events, please follow safety guidelines from your local health administration and keep the recommended distance.

FYI 9 out of 52 months of Pokemon Go’s existence is now during the pandemic. This is not over yet and most likely we have a year of pandemic ahead of us, so they better plan the future of the game so everyone can enjoy it once again.
