Attention Trainers! Niantic has decided to grace us with the new 12KM Red Eggs, called “Strange Eggs.”
This new “spooky” egg requires a Trainer to walk 12km in order to hatch. It contains some old Dark and Poison-type Pokemon, as well as some new Pokemon that will have their first debut through the Strange egg. We will also see Deino, the Pokemon which was in the focus back in August.
It is interesting that this is the second time Niantic adds a new distance of eggs since the beginning of the game back in 2016. Before the Strange Egg’s arrival in the game, the developers modified the distance, cutting it to a half distance, which now, with bonuses, requires 6km to hatch, but keep in mind that this will disappear after 7 days.
As of several hours ago, you might notice that you have a new special Research called “An Inter-egg-sting Development.” This research is celebrating the permanent addition of the Red Egg.
Pawniard, Villaby, and Sandile are the new Pokemon that being introduced in the game, which can be “grabbed” through this new egg. These are quite a valuable Pokemon, which also have many evolutions attached to them.
Unlike the rest of the eggs, the Red egg can be obtained through battles with the Team Rocket Leaders and Team GO Rocket Grunts. Bare in mind that you need to have a free Egg slot if you want to get it. We get it, this is difficult to maintain, but we hope that in the future some things will be fixed.
Niantic also needs to fix the list of Pokemon that can be hatched from this egg, because unwanted types such as Absol and Trubbish are included in the hatch list.
Niantic has kept the interest in the game by constantly shuffling the Pokemon available in eggs, but it seems like nowadays they are adding more basic ones, rather than rarer ones. We just hope that this will be fixed as soon as possible.
Here is the list of Pokemon that can be hatched from 12KM Eggs:
