Sony’s CEO expects PS5 to Sell over 7 Million units

PlayStation 5 will get Demon Souls Remake, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank, God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West as exclusive games, as stated by Jim Ryan, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment in an interview with Naver.

Later on, Ryan was asked what is his opinion on the rising price of the games, to which he said the following:

“It is difficult to talk about the overall game market or other game consoles, but I think the value is obvious in the case of the PS5. We’ll excite fans around the world with the best exclusive games on the market today and deliver a truly next-generation device experience that will captivate them.”

Sony Entertainment is expecting to sell around 7 Million units of the new console, PlayStation 5 by March 2012. Jim Ryan stated that the company thinks that PS5 will be more successful in terms of selling units in the first months of its launch, than the first months of the PS4 launch, which had around 6 to 7 million units being sold in the same period. This seems that they are quite confident with the new PS5. He also acknowledged the mess that happened with the pre-orders of the new console, so he hopes that the next round will be better and more organized.

He also revealed his view on the new design of the PS5:

“Various technologies were used in PlayStation and a lot of effort was put into making future-oriented designs. When we first unveiled the PS5 in June, we were curious about your reaction, but internally, there was a strong belief that a great design that fits in the 2020s and beyond.”
