No, Pokemon Go Mega Evolutions will Not Be Permanent
Mega Evolution in Pokemon is a temporary transformation of some Pokemon. This evolution can “boost” a Pokemon, meaning that they will have a different appearance, different base stats, and abilities from its regular-evolved form.
Recently, some rumors have started circling in our PoGO community that involves this type of evolution. Many players think that Mega Evolution will become a permanent Evolution. Some are even saying that to achieve Permanent Mega Evolution the player has to complete some kind of multi-step quests that will grant you the Permanent Mega Evolution. We have to say that this is entirely false.
This might be coming from the recently discovered text by our Pokeminers that insinuates that Mega Evolution will become permanent. Before this discovery, the text in the code was “Permanent Mega Evolution,” but now it changed into “Permanent Temp Evolution.”
We all know that in the main series game, once a Pokemon was Mega Evolved, it could only go back to its original state if it faints or if the battle ends which was changed in the game, as the developers allowed us to use a Mega Evolved Pokemon in more than one battle.
Removed the note about Megs as this doesn’t reference Megas specifically, just temporary evolutions and keep in mind they are separate.
The article was corrected on Pokeminers’ official TSR, but that did not stop the players and other Pokemon Go media outlets from thinking and reporting that the “Permanent Mega Evolution” is happening. Unfortunately, we will never see this feature because it does not exist.
