Pokemon Go January 2021 Events

Niantic has posted a thread in which they have explained the details of how January 2021 will look like for the fans of Pokemon GO.

Beginning on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, 10:00 a.m. local time, each week after this day, will highlight Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, and Johto with Pokemon from each of these regions will appear in the wild.

The newest Research Breakthrough encounter will be Chansey, starting on Friday, January 1st, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. If you ever complained that there aren’t enough Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in the game, well, take a look at the following list for new five-star Raids and their bosses, and you will never say a word:

Starting January 1st, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT-8), Ho-Oh (Shiny version included) will be the Raid Boss and will leave the Raids on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time. For the next eight days, starting at 10:00 a.m. local time, Genesect holding a Burn Drive will be the Raid boss and will make its exit on Tuesday, January 12th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

On the same day when Genesect leaves, Heatran will replace the Paleozoic Pokemon and will be the Raid Boss from January 5th to January 19th, 2020, 10:00 a.m. local time. The next Raid Bosses (yes, two) will be Kyogre and Groudon with their Shiny forms.

These two Pokemon will come on Tuesday, January 19th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time and will be replaced on Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time with a Pokemon that is supposed to be a surprise.

As far as Mega Raids go, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Blastoise and Mega Abomasnow will be coming back to the Raids, with Mega Charizard being more powerful than it was before. These Mega-Bosses will be in Raids from Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. until Tuesday, January 12th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. local time. In the post, Niantic has announced that there will be new Mega-Evolved Pokemon making their debut, accompanied with Mega Houndoom and Mega Venusaur starting January 19th, 2021.

The Spotlight Hours, as you know, are every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. local time, so here are the Pokemon that will be in the spotlight in January:

  • Tuesday, January 5, 2021: Lillipup will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, January 12, 2021: Drifloon will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, January 19, 2021: Shroomish will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Tuesday, January 26, 2021: Phanpy will be in the spotlight, and you’ll earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.

Since we cannot celebrate the New Year with the ones we love (COVID-19, duh!), we can celebrate it with our beloved Pocket Monsters. Dubbed New Year’s event, there will be new costumed Pokemon, new avatar items and returns of some Pokemon with party hats. This event will start on Thursday, December 31st, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. to Monday, January 4th, 2021, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

New year, new features. Pokemon GO will get a “Collection Challenges” which will be a guide on catching Pokemon during some events. This feature will be live in early January 2021.
Merry Christmas to you all and keep on checking our website for any further updates on the game.
