Pokemon GO Tour: Kanto is the first event that will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokemon. This event will begin at 9 a.m. on February 20th, 2021, and will end the same day at 9 p.m. local time.
There will be two versions of the ticket, the first one is a Green version, while the other one is a Red version, and will come with a bonus of more Candy from catching Kanto Pokemon. Each of these versions will have Shiny versions of selected Pokemon. The tickets are currently being sold at $11.99. Fortunately, you have time up to a few days before the event to choose which version of the ticket you want, the Red or Green one.
The Red version will have the Shiny versions of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Ekans, Pikachu, female Nidoran, Oddish, Diglett, Mankey, Growlithe, Ponyta, Shellder, Drowzee, Krabby, Hitmonlee, Lickitung, Scyther, Electabuzz, Eevee, Kabuto, and Dratini, meanwhile, if you use Incense, Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther and Electrabuzz will be attracted to it.
On the other hand, the ones that will choose the Green version will have a chance to catch the following Shiny versions: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pidgey, Pikachu, Sandshrew, male Nidoran, Vulpix, Meowth, Psyduck, Bellsprout, Geodude, Exeggcute, Hitmonchan, Koffing, Tangela, Horsea, Magmar, Pinsir, Eevee, Omanyte and Dratini. If you choose to use an Incense, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar, and Pinsir are going to be attracted to it.
The ones that do decide to purchase this ticket, will have a Special Research, and when finished, they will get one last quest which will grant them a Shiny Mew. It seems like the focus of the event is to catch the original 150 Pokemon in a day, which is achievable through Trading. Because of this, Niantic has decided to expand the trading range up to 40km.
The players that will not participate in this event will have some perks, a few selected Kanto Pokemon spawning in the wild and Legendary Raids featuring Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo, together with their legacy moves. Articuno will have Hurricane, Zapdos Thunder Shock, Moltres will come with Sky Attack, and Mewtwo with Psystrike. Niantic announced that some Pokemon if evolved during this event, will know their exclusive attacks, which is amazing.
It’s been well established that Ditto and Mewtwo are both clones of Mew. Usually, Ditto is considered to be a failed attempt, while Mewtwo is what the scientist were aiming for, more or less. Ditto is a SUCCESFUL clone of Mew.
Something that we are both worried and excited about is the Shiny version of Ditto. While this is a great catch, it could go downhill if you happen to catch a Shiny version of a Pokemon you do not own, and later turn out to be a Ditto. It is interesting to see how this will turn out. We believe Ditto will be available via Special Research and then later in the wild, but it looks like we just have to wait and see.
After the event ends, some of the Shiny Pokemon will still spawn in the game until February 27th, 2021.
