BioWare and EA cancel Anthem’s development

When Anthem got launched back in 2019, it got a pretty disappointing release from a technical and design aspect, making it one of the biggest game failures that year. Last year, BioWare and EA announced that they would do an overhaul for Anthem, titled “Anthem Next,” to make the game better. However, it was canceled recently.

When COVID-19 hit, the Anthem Next development team had to work from home, which heavily impacted the negative side’s productivity. Another big reason the project got canceled is Dragon Age 4 and The Mass Effect sequels. They’re basically abandoning Anthem Next so that they can focus more on these games.

Anthem is still available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One as the game’s servers are still running, so you can hop on and still play the game. However, it’s such a shame to see a game like Anthem with so much potential die out like this.
