Pokemon Go Lunar New Year Event Features

New Year celebrations have ended, so now it is time to celebrate Lunar New Year. As in every year, Niantic is “throwing a party” for their Pokemon GO fans.
Recently, they have announced that starting February 9th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Trainers will be able to celebrate the Lunar New Year with many red Pokemon, accompanied by bonuses and Timed Researches.
The event will end on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. local time. During the Lunar New Year event, Trainers will be able to catch Tauros through Timed Research. Pokemon that will be appearing in the wild are Krabby, Goldeen, Magmar, Magikarp, Miltank, Meditite, Tepig, and more Red-themed Pokemon. For the first time in the game, there is an increased chance of a wild Gyarados spawn. From 5km Eggs during this event, we will be getting Rattata, Ekans, Mankey, Ponyta, Mareep, Houndour, Miltank, Torchic, Bagon, Buneary, Tepig and Litleo.
The new Lunar New Year Raid Bosses will be Meditite, Carvanha, Duskull, Skorupi and Darumaka in one-star raids, as for three-star Raids, we will see Miltank, Octillery, Blaziken, Camerupt, and Absol.
The new Five-Star Raid Bosses will be Latios and Latias. They will be in Raids from February 9th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. until Saturday, February 20th, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. local time. As for Mega-Evolution Pokemon, we will be visited by the new Mega-Evolution, Mega Gyarados. Together with Mega Pidgeot and Mega Ampharos, the trio will stick with us from February 9th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to February 20th, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. local time.
Meowth, Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, Meditite, and Miltank will be featured as rewards from Event-exclusive Field Research tasks. There will be an increased amount of Poke Balls you will be getting from Gifts, and you can become Lucky Friends with someone faster during this event. As for trading, there will be an increased chance of a Pokemon becoming a Lucky Pokemon while trading and the Trade Range will be temporarily increased to 40km. This last “bonus” will begin on February 8th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. and will end on February 15th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT-8)
