Final Fantasy XI’s Reboot Officially Canceled

Nexon and Square Enix have canceled the development of the mobile-focused Final Fantasy XI Reboot. The game was in joint development with Square Enix, but hasn’t met the standards. As Gematsu discovered, both companies determined that the game did not meet the quality standards expected by fans for this MMORPG to shine. This has caused a reallocation of the development staff on other projects.

Final Fantasy XI Reboot was announced in March 2015, with a destined release time span for 2016. Even if numerous media-powered releases and teasers were keeping the fans happy, there weren’t many talks regarding the title in general. The cancelation of this project was also confirmed by Gamebiz.jp.

Hence, Final Fantasy XI Reboot is no longer in existence and its development has been discontinued.
