Three newly-discovered species of Australian Beetle Were just Named after Pokemon’s Legendary Birds

We got notified that Pokemon and the study of insects, Entomology, have something in common. Dr. Darren Pollock and Yun Hsiao have discovered a new species of beetles which they named after the Legendary Birds Trio: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.

These new Legendary beetles (get it?) are a part of the research focused on the Native Australian beetle species. Even though this is not the first time a discovery getting named after a Pokemon character, it certainly is magnificent every time someone names something after our beloved Pokemon beasts.

Pollock and Hsiao have discovered a new genus of beetles originating from Australia, called Binburrum. But later both of them found out that there are different variations of Binburrum i.e three types, later named B. Articuno, B. Zapdos and B. Moltres.

Are there other discoveries named after Pokemon? Tell us in the comments down below.
