21st Annual Game Developers Choice Awards Finalists Revealed
The finalists for nominations for the Game Developers Choice Awards have just been announced by the Game Developers Conference. The event that the winners will be announced at, CDGA, will be happening on Wednesday, July 1st, at 4:30 p.m.
The finalists have been hand-picked by developers, and the ones that have the most nominations are Supergiant Games’ Hades, Ghost of Tsushima from Super Punch Productions, and The Last of Us Part II from Naughty Dog while Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx has five nominations, and all of these games are nominated for the category of Game of the Year.
Hades has the following nominations: Best Audio, Best Design, Innovation, Best Narrative, Best Visual Art, and the most important, Game of the Year. The second game, Ghost of Tsushima will challenge Hades in the following categories: Best Audio, Best Design, Best Narrative, Best Visual Art, and Game of the Year. Besides these nominations, Ghost of Tsushima is nominated for Best Technology. The Last of Us Part II has 6 nominations, and they are Best Audio, Best Design, Best Narrative, Best Technology, Best Visual Art, and Game of the Year.
Every nomination was good so far, but we expected more nominations for DOOM Eternal, a game that got only one nomination, which is for Best Sound Design. Final Fantasy VII: Remake was nominated for the same category, and it is also the only nomination the game got. Ori and the Will of the Wisps was nominated for Best Visual Design, which is very surprising too.
