The one thing that we have all been waiting for will be here tomorrow (April 20th,2021), Xbox Cloud Gaming. The Netflix for games will be released tomorrow in limited beta on Chrome and Edge browsers, Safari, and tablets.
Here is the official statement from Catherine Gluckstein, the VP and Head of Product for Project xCloud: “Starting tomorrow, we’ll begin sending out invites to select Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to start testing the Xbox Cloud Gaming limited beta for Windows 10 PCs and Apple phones and tablets via web browsers. We’re launching xbox.com/play where invitees can play over 100 Xbox Game Pass titles through Edge, Google Chrome, or Safari. Offering cloud gaming through the browser and having a simplified, universal landing page presents a great opportunity to make cloud gaming approachable to more players in more places over time.”
Judging from the announcement there will be a few selected Game Pass Ultimate members that will have the opportunity to see how the service works. Sadly, this service is available in 22 countries only. So far we haven’t heard about an expansion to the rest of the world, but we are sure that soon enough that will happen too.
Xbox Cloud Gaming will have support for Bluetooth and USB-connected controllers even via browsers, and a lot of titles will have touch controls too.
