Niantic Next Real-World Mobile Game Transformers: Heavy Metal

The Transformers franchise might be getting a new AR mobile game, and it looks like it will share some elements with Pokemon GO.
Niantic will be teaming up with Hasbro and TOMY, a toy company, to develop an AR mobile game that will be called Transformers: Heavy Metal. The game will be using the Lightship AR platform that Niantic is famous for and will allow players to team up with either Bumblebee and Optimus Prime or with the humans in an epic battle against the well-known Decepticons.
John Hanke, Niantic’s CEO said the following: “Transformers is the perfect franchise for AR. Battling and interacting with giant robots in the real world is an amazing experience. We want to live up to the high expectations of Transformers fans around the world and bring them a game, unlike anything they’ve played before.”
Very Very Spaceship will be the studio that will be developing the Transformers: Heavy Metal. The global release will be sometime later this year.
