Marvelous has announced on their Twitter page that the game has successfully reached over one million copies sold worldwide, including both digital and physical copies on every platform that the game is available. In November 2020, when Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin was released, it hit more than 500,000 sold copies worldwide, and it made the developers think about making a sequel to the game.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, a Japanese action role-playing simulation video game, allows the players to follow the harvest goddess, who gets in a fight with several humans, resulting in banishment. The goddess then has to deal with the demon inhabitants and make the best out of her current living situation. As the player becomes better at farming, the goddess becomes more powerful.
