UPDATE Pokemon Go 18 Special Trades During this Weekend, Trade Distance to Increase

Update: Trainers, the Pokemon Go Fest 2021 event has started and the Special Trades are on. Unfortunately, the increased trade distance is not included. If something changes, we will make sure to let you know.

Until then, we recommend checking the Go Fest 2021 Collection Challenges, Global Challenges, and the Special Research The Melody Pokemon.

Previous Story: The Pokemon Go Fest 2021 event is right around the corner and players around the globe will be able to make up to six Special Trades each day, a total of 18 Special Trades over the Go Fest 2021 weekend.

The Pokemon Go Fest 2021 runs from Friday, July 16 at 1 PM to Sunday, July 18, at 11 PM, 2021, and during this period every player will be able to make up to six Special Trades each day.

For those who are not familiar with what Special Trades are, don’t worry, we got your back.

Some Pokemon are considered special trades. These Pokemon require more Stardust to trade and you can only complete one special trade per day (in our case you can trade up to six per day during the Go Fest 2021 event). The following are special trades:

  • Pokemon not already in your Pokedex
  • Legendary Pokemon
  • Shiny Pokemon
  • Pokemon with forms not already in your Pokedex (like Unown, costumed Pikachu, and Castform)

NOTE: Only players that are level 10 or above can trade Pokemon. Also, certain Pokemon cannot be traded. Mythical Pokemon and Pokemon that have previously been traded once before cannot be traded.

Now, let’s talk about the trade distance at Go Fest 2021. Many players have been asking if the trade distance is indeed going to be increased during the Go Fest 2021 event.

Niantic and Pokemon Go said that they don’t have any info about this at the moment, but we do believe that the trading distance will be increased to 40km. It makes sense since this is a limited-time bonus and the only way to make players happy with the “up to six special trades per day feature” is to increase the trading distance.

Which Pokemon do you want to trade? We would like to hear from you, so please leave a comment below.
