Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora could be delayed to 2023

Oh boy, how many delays have there been so far? Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ubisoft’s triple-A first-person action-adventure, could get one as well. Plenty of triple-A titles are being delayed at the moment. It definitely feels like a cursed timeline. Being first in the Avatar franchise, it’s understandable why the game shouldn’t be rushed. Its prosperity’s somewhat inevitable, and having it faulty might cause a backlash very fast.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was first discovered at this year’s E3 2021, during Ubisoft Forward, with an initial release date in 2022. The blue guys that we met a long time ago are ready to make an entry into the gaming scene. A secretive project that has turned into a surprising title without anything being leaked online by Ubisoft. That was a pure win, as it imbued a very thorough excitement among the fans.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person action-adventure game made in Ubisoft’s renowned engine Snowdrop, which characteristics are proven to be at a pace for such a game. AAA Avatar game is what everyone’s excited about, and fans have proved the same after the official reveal. This is why the delay could come in. A delay to mid-late 2023 is probably the best for everyone—both for fans and developers. No one wants rushed video game releases—especially not triple-A titles that have a high chance of becoming their own blockbusters.

No one wants to follow the road of Cyberpunk 2077. And that is another reason why the first title in the Avatar franchise should be mended particularly. A single mistake, a rush, and everything become light enough to be caught by the turbulent waters and taken away. Combined with the inability to work correctly, caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic and its forceful limitations on the gaming industry, a delay to 2023 is a much more sounding option than flatline in 2022.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first-person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
