Pokemon Go Shiny Odds and the Rarest Shiny Pokemon

Every Pokemon Go player wants to find and catch at least one shiny Pokemon in the game, and while it may seem easy, Shiny Pokemon are rare to find. You may be wondering, what are your chances of ever catching a Shiny Pokemon?

There are many hard-working fans among the Pokemon Go community that have provided the information for this question, and it is not as bad as we thought it would be.

At this very moment, Niantic and Pokemon Go have introduced over 650 Shiny Pokemon in the game, and to get all Shinies is impossible. To get a wild Shiny is something that is not common, and the standard Shiny rate is 1 in 500.

The only days/events where the Shiny rates are increased are the Community Day events. During Community Day events, the Shiny rates increase to 1 in 25, instead of the regular 1 in 500. The sad thing is that this event happens once a month, for a few hours.

Shiny Rates Pokemon Go

Here are the current Shiny rates in the game:

  • The Standard Shiny rate is 1 in 500
  • For Legendary and Mythical Raids is 1 in 20
  • Community Day Shiny rates are 1 in 25
  • Permaboosted Shiny rate is 1 in 64, which is for Aerodactyl, Alolan Grimer, Alolan Marowak, Alolan Sandshrew, Alolan Vulpix, Chansey, Klink, Lapras, Nincada, Onix, Pineco, Riolu, Skarmory, Spinda, Spiritomb and Timburr
  • Rare species have a less permanent shiny rate boost of 1 in 125

There is a list of which Shiny forms are currently boosted in Pokemon Go, and this list changes daily. We recommend checking it out to see what Pokemon have a higher shiny rate.

The rarest Shiny Pokemon at the moment is Shiny Detective Pikachu. Along with it, we can see that Shiny Pikachu Libre, Shiny Pikachu with a Hat (every Pikachu with a hat that we had so far), Shiny Unown, and Shiny Rufflet are the ones that are hardest to find in the game.

How many Shiny Pokemon do you have so far? Do you have any of the rarest shiny Pokemon in your dex? Tell us in the comments.

  1. I currently have 137 shiny Pokemon between Pokemon Go/Home some are very hard to get lucky on coming to even think it’s in the game. While some are overstocked Shiny events from community days. But, I do have a few interesting ones (no legendaries or mythical I do believe. ) how ever my girlfriend had gotten lucky while she was driving I was checking pokemon for her and we came across a Safari hat Pikachu that was shiny. Which I quickly caught for her on her account.

    1. I have a shiny regular Pikachu, I also have a shiny Raquanza. That’s the only shiny legendary I have. I have catch 40 shiny so far, and that’s only because I stopped playing for a year when Covid hit

  2. I dont know my shiny count because game doesn’t count them. I think total number is somewhere between 1300-1500. Currently I have 705 left. My rarest shiny is Unown and Mew. Mew itself is not rare shiny but I was lucky to get 100%IV.

  3. I have a shinny hat croagunk that was from the event close to October 2021 and its almost a s rank. I also have seen people with a shinny mew, shinny daraki mythical legendary and others the I think would be much rarer in my opinion. But any special Pokémon that have outfits that are shinny are rare.

  4. This a joke Niantic and Pokemon should be done for fraud. No of these are even remotely close to the odds 60 to 70 for raid pokemon easy and wild shines are about 700, i have gone seeing over 1500 pokemon and no shiny.
They control this wanting people to pay and participate in community days for rubbish pokemon.
Glad i stopped playing this game and no wonder spoofing is more popular. Hope you both rot

  5. I have 110 shiny pokemon and none of those are duplicates. Out of those I have 7 shiny legendaries. The rarest shiny I have is Pikachu with a hat from go fest 2021

  6. this is another reason why I’m getting burned out on this game; shiny Pokémon are too rare & I’m getting tired of continuously having to pay all this money just to really progress in the game…so sad.

  7. So a couple of corrections, here. Shiny detective Pikachu was only glitched by one player and Niantic removed it from the game so it no longer exists. The second rarest shiny is Ash Hat Pichu as it was only available for a 24 hour window over 2 years ago. Third would be Pikachu Libre. Also, to add to your permaboost list: Sneasel, Shinx, Togepi, Wynaut, Bonsly, Bronzor, Igglybuff, Cleffa, Smoochum, Pichu, Happiny, Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, Galarian Ponyta, Galarian Stunfisk, Galarian Weezing, Galarian Farfetch’d, Alolan Exeggutor, Mime Jr. (within its region), Scyther, Elekid, Magby, Ditto (I believe, but it is newish), Azurill, Unown, Gligar, Smeargle, Galarian Zigzagoon, Mawile, Absol, Budew, Feebas, Chimecho, Audino, Alomomola, and Meltan.
