You all know the Pokemon named Ditto, the source of our Pokemon headaches. Ditto is rare and extremely hard to find, not to mention its Shiny form.

Ditto is part of many Research tasks and quests, and it can transform literally into any Pokemon on the horizon. However, Niantic has decided to make our Pokemon Go lives easier and release a list of possible Ditto disguises. At this moment, the chance of getting a Ditto is around 3%. That said, the odds of finding a Ditto in Pokemon Go are very low.

As of November 2021, Ditto can be disguised as:

• Gastly (possible chance of Shiny form)
• Drowzee (possible chance of Shiny form)
• Remoraid
• Teddiursa (possible chance of Shiny form)
• Gulpin
• Numel
• Stunky
• Dwebble (possible chance of Shiny form)
• Foongus

You may wonder, what is up with the mentions of a Shiny form? Well, if you happen to encounter a Shiny Pokemon from Ditto’s disguise list, then it cannot turn into a Ditto when you catch the Pokemon. However, a regular Pokemon from Ditto’s disguise list can transform into a Ditto, and there is a possible chance that you will get a Shiny Ditto. Sounds confusing, right? Let me break it down for you.

If you are on the hunt for Shiny Ditto, there are a few things you should know:

• If you encounter a wild Shiny Pokemon, it CANNOT be a Ditto
• If you encounter a non-shiny Pokemon, it can be a normal Ditto or Shiny Ditto
• If you encounter a Shiny Pokemon from Ditto’s disguise pool, it cannot be a Ditto

A Ditto in the wild is remarkably hard to encounter, but do not despair. It might appear on your screen as a different Pokemon (a Pokemon from the list above) and it will reveal itself only after catching it. Until then, you are clueless.

There are a few tricks for an easier encounter with a Ditto, and the first one is a Pokemon Go Plus, a device that will catch all Pokemon near you. Lures and Incense are good too.
