Just as in the real world, Pokemon GO will be celebrating the upcoming holidays with an event that will depict the holiday spirit from all over the world.

Niantic has published the newest event dedicated to the holidays and will release new Pokemon, costumed Pokemon, bonuses, many rewards, and other festivities that all Trainers look forward to.

The event, called Pokemon GO Winter Holiday 2021, will begin on December 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and during the whole event, Trainers will be able to enjoy new features, such as the newest Postcard book, which will contain memories from locations that you or your friends have visited. A new Holiday Cup will begin, and Trainers will be able to open up to 45 Gifts per day. Mega Abomasnow will have a CP boost, and the Team GO Rocket Grunts will feature more Water- and Ice-type Pokemon.

A day before the official event starts, Niantic will release new Avatar items, stickers, and bundles, all of which will be available in the in-game shop. The Avatar items will be a Festive Hat, Festive Jacket, and Festive Shorts.
There will be three bundles, and they are:

The Pokemon GO Holiday event will be divided into two parts, and the first part will begin on December 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. During these few days, Pokemon such as Pikachu wearing a holiday hat, Swinub, Holiday Stantler, Holiday Delibird, Snorunt, Holiday Spheal, Snover, Vanillite, Alolan Sandshrew, Cryogonal and Holiday Cubchoo will be appearing more in the wild.

As one-star Raid Bosses, we will be able to challenge Pikachu wearing a holiday hat, Alolan Sandshrew, Swinub, Holiday Spheal and Holiday Cubchoo. In three-star Raids, the Raid Bosses that we will see are Cloyster, Holiday Stantler, Holiday Delibird and Holiday Glaceon.

The Raids that Trainers are most excited about are the five-star Raids and the Mega Raids. In five-star Raids, Kyurem will be the Pokemon that will be able for a battle, while in Mega Raids, we will have Mega Steelix.

The final Community Day event will be held on December 18th and December 19th, days which are part of the first part of the Pokemon GO Holidays.

Even though the first part looks quite promising, the second part of the event is even more interesting, filled with new and fun stuff. The second part of the event will start on December 23rd, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and will end on December 31st, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. local time. On these days, on each first PokeStop spin of the day, the PokeStop will gift you an Egg Incubator.

The first thing that Trainers are most excited about is the debut of not one, but two new Pokemon. Those Pokemon are Bergmite and Avalugg.

If you are fond of Timed Researches, during Part II, there will be two Timed Research lines that will be focused on friendship and catching Pokemon. Each of these lines will grant you an encounter with Galarian Mr. Mime at the very end. A mini-event will be occurring from December 25th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. to December 26th, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time too.

A Collection Challenge will take place from December 25th, 2021 to December 31st, at 8:00 p.m. local time, and Trainers will have to trade Pokemon such as Swinub, Snorunt, Spheal, Snover, Vanillite and Cubchoo. Due to this, the trade distance will be increased to 40km.

Pokemon such as Pikachu wearing a holiday hat, Swinub, Holiday Delibird, Holiday Stantler, Holiday Spheal, Snorunt, Snover, Holiday Cubchoo, Vanillite, Alolan Vulpix, Cryogonal, and Bergmite will be appearing more often in the wild during Part II of the Pokemon GO Holiday event.

Pikachu wearing a holiday hat, Alolan Vulpix, Holiday Spheal, Holiday Cubchoo and Galarian Darumaka will be featured as one-star Raid bosses, while Lapras, Holiday Delibird, Holiday Stantler and Holiday Glaceon will be featured in three-star Raids. Kyurem will be the five-star Raid Boss, while Mega Abomasnow will be the Mega Raid Boss.

During Part II, Pokemon such as Swinub, Holiday Cubchoo, Smoochum, Galarian Darumaka, Bergmite and Cryogonal will be hatching from 7km Eggs.

As Field Research Task Encounters Trainers will be able to catch the following Pokemon:

  • Pikachu wearing a holiday hat
  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Swinub
  • Holiday Stantler
  • Holiday Spheal
  • Holiday Cubchoo
  • Galarian Darumaka
