It has been reported that the very last PS3 models will no longer be eligible for repair in Japan.
Sony Entertainment released a statement saying that everything that is PS3 CECH-4300 related, including repair services from the official PS3 repair service will gradually be discontinued. This also means that every accessory made for the PS3 model will not be repaired by the official PS3 repair service.
They will be accepting repairs until April 30rd, 2022, and those that made prior reservations will have time until May 7th, 2022, to deliver their consoles or accessories. The tricky part is that this may end earlier if the company runs out of spare parts.
We all knew this was going to happen someday, especially after they stopped production and shipment a few years ago.
If you have a broken PS3 console or an accessory meant for the PS3, we advise you to go to that service before they close it forever.
