Pokemon Go Celebrates 420 Day with Shiny Cherubi and Oddish Spotlight Hour

Trainers, a Pokemon Go player has a theory about the Shiny Cherubi release on 4/20, and we love it.

Niantic and Pokemon Go released the shiny version of Cherubi on April 20, 2022, and one day prior to the release of Shiny Cherubi, it was Oddish’s Spotlight Hour event. Both Pokemon are Grass-type Pokemon, one of them is #420 in the Pokedex, and the other is known as the Weed Pokemon. Coincidence, right? Well, it looks like they’ve been planning to celebrate 420 Day without even mentioning it.

Shiny Cherubi made its Pokemon Go debut on 4/20, and on 4/19 it was Oddish’s Spotlight Hour event. Now, Oddish is known as the weed Pokemon and it’s currently an event spawn Pokemon and can be shiny.

The release of these Pokemon does not seem to be accidental and is related to 420. For those who don’t know, 420 Day is celebrated every year on April 20, and it’s an unofficial holiday in the US.

Niantic and Pokemon Go didn’t share any info about this, but it definitely looks like a Pokemon Go 420 celebration to us.

JefePhD is the first Pokemon Go player who noticed this and shared his theory on TSR. Check it out below.

What are your thoughts about this? Do you think this is a coincidence? Did they just want to celebrate this day without anyone noticing?
