DayZ 1.18 Introduces Grenade Launcher and Claymore, Patch Notes Revealed

New Weapons, Dynamic Events and more.

After numerous experimental updates, DayZ’s update 1.18 is finally here. Bohemia Interactive has finally released the update to the stable branch, and it surely brings some kicks with it. For the first time ever, DayZ will get a grenade launcher, including a Claymore that can be detonated remotely. Alongside that, other quality of life improvements have been included, and PC players will finally get a better-structured keybinding menu.

As a celebration of the update, the developer published a teaser video that can be watched at the top of this article. As for the grenade launcher and the claymore, more information can be found below, including the complete changelog of DayZ Update 1.18.

DayZ 1.18 Live Server Update Notes

Grenade Launcher

First and foremost, let’s talk about the legendary M79, a new single-shot grenade launcher that shoots 40mm fragmentation grenades at a distance of up to 300 meters. The same grenade launcher can also shoot smoke grenades in different colors, including a special grenade that can be only found in contaminated areas. Gas bombs, perhaps?

Claymore

The Claymore on the other side is a remotely detonated directional mine. However, it doesn’t work like the ones in Rainbow Six Siege, as these ones will have to be detonated manually. Therefore, plastic explosives can be combined with a remote detonation unit that will allow you to detonate the explosives from a safe distance.

Smallest Firearms

Aside from this, the game is also getting a unique and smallest type of firearm in the game, using a .357 caliber. It’s a two-barrel pistol that goes under the name The Derringer.

New Event

From today on, there will be new types of events that will conclude on the railway networks across Chernarus and Livonia. As a server admin, you’ll also have the opportunity to run this as a core addition on your server should you decide to. The new event will add abandoned trains on some railways, alluding to a new point of interest that can spawn different types of loot (spawn, military, industrial, civilian).
