Pokemon Go Anniversary Event and Battle Weekend Announced

The start of July will be an impeccable one (to say the least), starting with not one but two events where Trainers will get great rewards and bonuses.

Beginning with the Pokemon GO Anniversary event, from July 6th, 2022, until July 12th, 2022, Pokemon Go will see three new costumed Pokemon, and they are Party Hat Charmeleon, Party Hat Charizard and Cake Costume Pikachu. And for the first time, Trainers can evolve Party Hat Charmeleon into Party Hat Charizard.

You may have noticed a fiery theme here, and that is because the Pokemon community will be celebrating 2016 through a six-themed celebration, and Charizard’s Pokedex number is also #006. A lot of sixes here. Plus, there might be something that involves Ultra Unlock bonuses, which will be revealed after challenges are completed (Pokemon Go Fest: Berlin, maybe?).

During the whole Anniversary event, Pokemon that will be appearing more frequently in the wild are Bulbasaur, Party Hat Charmander, Squirtle, Cake Costume Pikachu, Machop, Ledyba, Ralts, Buneary, Venipede, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Bunnelby, Litleo, Pikipek, Gabite, Clauncher and Helioptile.

In One-star Raids, the Pokemon that Trainers will be seeing are Cake Costume Pikachu and Dratini while the Three-star Raid Bosses will be Venusaur, Party Hat Charizard, Blastoise, Tyranitar and Metagross. As a Five-star Raid Boss, Trainers will get the chance to go up against Zapdos and in Mega Raids, the Mega Bosses featured are Mega Charizard X (also available on July 6th, 2022, and July 7th, 2022) and Mega Charizard Y (also available from July 7th, 2022, until July 12th, 2022).

Pokemon that will be featured as Field Research task encounters are Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Rowlet, Litten and Popplio.

Last but not least, as part of the Anniversary event, there will be avatar items and event-themed stickers that can also be obtained through spinning PokeStops, Gifts and in the in-game shop.

Now, let’s move on to the more important event, which is the Battle Weekend event. Beginning on July 9th, 2022, and ending on July 10th, 2022, Trainers will be enjoying the following bonuses:

Team GO Rocket balloons appearing every three hours
Enjoy up to 20 GO Battle League sets each day
Earn 4x Stardust from GO Battle League Rewards
Use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokemon forget the Charged Attack Frustration

However, a Trainer’s job is to save Shadow Latios from the hands of the evil Team GO Rocket Boss Giovanni and help this Pokemon reunite with the previous Team GO Rocket victim, Shadow Latias. Unlike previous times, Team GO Rocket Grunts and their Leaders will be using a different Shadow Pokemon line-up, such as Geodude, Shinx, Purrloin and more, and there might even be Shiny Shadow Pokemon (if you are lucky enough).

The last “bonus” that will be available through the whole new Season of Pokemon Go, named Season of GO, will be a Special Research focused on Giovanni. This Research will be available until September 1st, 2022.
