Star Wars The Old Republic Update 7.1 will add new Daily Missions and 8-player Operation

On the downside, creative director Charles Boyd steps down from the scene.

After the 10th anniversary celebration in December 2021 and the release of the seventh expansion, Legacy of the Sith, BioWare has revealed that SWTOR will get a new update that will introduce new content for the players. A new spark is deemed to increase the entertainment levels and provide players a small but fresh incentive to keep playing. On the sad part, the creative director behind the MMORPG is leaving the team.

In a recent Game Update posted by the developer, BioWare claims that August 2 will be the day when new content will arrive in Star Wars The Old Republic. Update 7.1 will introduce the following:

  • New daily mission arcs for Republic and Imperial players on the planet Manaan
  • A challenging new Operation for 8-player teams
  • Improvements to our Weapons in Outfitter system
  • Key revelations about Darth Malgus and the Sith lord whose relics he has been pursuing.

In other SWTOR news, its Creative Director, Charles Boyd is leaving the team. Below you can find his farewell letter, in which he praises the team that was working with him on the series.

Even after almost sixteen years, I still can’t fully believe how lucky I’ve been to work on Star Wars: The Old Republic. The Star Wars galaxy has always been a huge part of my life since I was a kid, so getting to play a role in SWTOR’s growth from its initial vision to a colossal release and then an incredible live service for over a decade has been an amazing experience. The team’s passion, creativity, and dedication to this game are incredible; I don’t think I can ever fully express how much I’ve admired and appreciated working with them every single day.” – Charles Boyd said in his farewell letter.

As always, there are some exciting things in the works for the future of SWTOR – storylines and planets and gameplay and characters that I can’t wait to see come to life. I’m really looking forward to experiencing them all right alongside our players.

So to the team, to our longtime partners at Lucasfilm, and to all of you: thank you so, so much for this amazing journey. I may be moving on from the project, but the Old Republic will never leave my heart.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. My mission is to lurk and discover secrets, create guides and provide you with some important news. I mostly play FPS and love experimenting in good MMORPGs.
