New World August Developer Update Talks “Greatsword” and “Brimstone Sands”

Today, Amazon Games released a new video providing a closer look at the next major update coming to New World. A new video developer update has been published in which the game director Scot Lane alongside members of the New World team, discusses designing the upcoming Brimstone Sands release. They also mention the release of the Greatsword, and without further spoilers, make sure you watch the video above.

The update arrives in October, and it’s promised to be a massive update coming to New World. This update will finally add the long-awaited and new Greatsword weapon, and a glimpse into the Ennead Expedition. The team also discussed the revamped starting experience, territory management, and the PTR rollout plan.

The Greatsword will have ability trees that offer offensive and defensive skills. Whether is Tanking or DPS-ing, this Greatsword will allow you to do both. It scales evenly off of strength and dexterity, a two-handed weapon ready to cause mayhem. One of the Greatsword skill tree is called Onslaught, which sacrifices health for more damage. Something we’ve seen in Lost Ark.

The official video can be found at the top of this article. Purposedly, aside from the narrative, the developers have decided not to provide critical details on the upcoming features and significant changes as they want to be a surprise.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
