Pokemon Go 2022 Pokemon World Championships Event Details

Calling yourself the best Trainer in the world is quite the achievement, and that title will be challenged in the upcoming 2022 Pokemon World Championships.

To determine the best of them all, Niantic will be hosting a Pokemon World Championship where the top qualifying Trainers from every part of the world will come together under one roof, which is at the ExCel London convention center on August 18th, 2022, until August 21st, 2022. Let the battles begin!

You can watch the action live on these dates if you are not among the giants. There will be two streams, one in English (available on Pokemon Go’s Twitch channel) and the other in Japanese (TBA). The live streams will begin at 8:00 a.m. UTC.

To mark the beginning of the 2022 Pokemon World Championships, there will be in-game avatar items and they are the following:

  • 2022 Worlds Tee – this avatar item will be available through a code that will be revealed during the World Championships stream, but if you do not catch it you can see it later on official Pokemon Go social outlets.
  • 2022 Worlds Participant Tee

While the top Trainers will be sweating through battles, the rest of us will be enjoying a little party that will start on August 18th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. and end on August 23rd, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

Would a special event be special without a Pokemon debut? No, right? For the sake of that, World Championships 2022 Pikachu will be making its debut in Pokemon Go through Raids, Field Research and Timed Research. And as a plus, the following bonuses will be active throughout the 2022 Pokemon World Championships event:

  • Challengers with Pokemon teams inspired by the ones used by Trainers who won the Pokemon Go Regional Championships will appear at PokeStops
  • The max number of Go Battle League sets that can be played in 24 hours will increase from five sets to 10.
  • 3x Stardust from Go Battle League win rewards

There will also be a Timed Research that will reward you with an encounter with World Championships 2022 Pikachu, an Elite Fast TM and an Elite Charged TM.

As wild encounters during the whole event, the Pokemon that will be popping up are Nidoran (male), Mankey, Machop, Mudkip, Sableye, Meditite, Swablu, Spheal, Croagunk, Dewpider, Scraggy and Galarian Stunfisk.

In One-Star Raids, World Championships 2022 Pikachu, Galarian Farfetch’d, Marill, Barboach, Timburr and Scraggy will be featured as Raid Bosses, while in Three-Star Raids Trainers will see Primeape, Lickitung and Skarmory. The most important of them all are the Bosses in Five-Star Raids, and they will be Zacian and Zamazenta, while the Mega Raid Boss will be Mega Slowbro.

Pokemon that will be featured as Field Research task encounters are Bulbasaur, World Championships 2022 Pikachu, Gastly, Rhyhorn, Magikarp, Chikorita, Mudkip, Galarian Zigzagoon, Beldum, Galarian Stunfisk and Fletchling.

Something that is quite new to us, and the game, are featured attacks. During the 2022 Pokemon World Championships the attacks that will be featured are the following:

  • Evolving Rhydon during the event will give you a Rhyperior with Charger Attack Rock Wrecker that has 110 power in Trainer, Gym and Raid battles.
  • Evolving Haunter into Gengar during the event will give you a Gengar with the Charged Attack Shadow Punch (40 power in Trainer, Gym and Raid battles).
  • Evolving Magikarp into Gyarados will give you a Gyarados with the Charged Attack Aqua Tail (50 power in Trainer, Gym and Raid battles).
  • Evolve Metang into Metagross to get the Charged Attack Meteor Mash (100 power in Trainer, Gym and Raid battles).
  • Evolve Fletchinder into Talonflame that knows the Fast Attack Incinerate (15 power in Trainer battles, 29 power in Gym and Raid battles).

The whole theme of the 2022 Pokemon World Championships will be Galar, so for that matter, there will be Galar-inspired avatar items available in the in-game shop.

A full agenda filled with prizes, excitement and the most important, a trophy for the best Trainer of all times.

What do you think about this? Will you qualify for the 2022 Pokemon World Championships?
