Ditto’s one move, and frankly, the most important one is the Transform move. With this one, Ditto gets the ability to transform into the opposing Pokemon and copy its moveset. And this mesmerizing ability is available in the game, allowing players to have fun with it. That is if you find Ditto in Pokemon Go.
Ditto was introduced in the game back when Trainers had the famous Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto Special Research quest (you had to buy a ticket for it).
Ditto is extremely hard to encounter in the wild, and the evidence for it is the low chance of seeing Ditto in the wild, which is approximately 3%. You may have seen Ditto, not as itself, but as other Pokemon and it will reveal itself once you successfully catch the Pokemon. Plus, there is a Shiny Ditto too, and that one is even harder to find. Great, right?
Many players wonder how to encounter one and fortunately, there is a list of Pokemon that Ditto is disguised as. A Ditto in the wild is remarkably hard to encounter, but do not despair. It might appear on your screen as a different Pokemon (a Pokemon from the list below) and it will reveal itself only after catching it. Just to remind you, the chances of encountering Ditto are roughly 3%.

But what if Ditto is disguised as a Shiny Pokemon? This is impossible to happen because Ditto cannot transform into a Shiny Pokemon. If the encounter you have is with a Shiny Pokemon, it does not matter if it is part of the Ditto disguise list it will not turn into Ditto upon catching it. However, there is a slight chance of you encountering a non-Shiny Pokemon and it turning into a Shiny Ditto.
From the list above, the Pokemon that do not have a Shiny version are Surskit, Finneon, and Swirlix, which means that you might have a bigger chance of encountering a Shiny Ditto disguised as one of these.

I have only ever caught one ditto and that was a couple months ago
I have 1 ditto but I think it was caught before the challenges where I needed to catch a ditto so now I’m stuck.
I legit currently have 19 ditto and I’m going to get hate but I transferred legit at least 8nto.10 for more room no shiny ditto never came across any seen some in gyms but that’s it
Tried to catch an Ekans, and put my phone in my pocket because someone was coming along. I look when they’re gone past and was like hold on I’ve never gotten an “oh?” on screen after catching something. I click and it turns into a Ditto and I was like wow that’s cool. Then I’m like wait that’s blue, Ditto is usually purple WAIT IS IT A SHINY OMG! And that’s the story of how I got a shiny Ditto.
