Pokemon Go The Ultimate Guide to Catching Rare Pokemon

Getting a rare Pokemon has always been a big accomplishment in Pokemon Go, and as it is a rare Pokemon, the excitement is even bigger.

Ever since the launch of Pokemon Go back in 2016, many of us are chasing that one Pokemon that is quite difficult to find, and the most important of all: good stats. There are a few “tricks” and tips on how to get a rare Pokemon in Pokemon Go, so here is where we step in to help you all. Through this guide of ours, we strive to make getting a rare Pokemon easier for you, but we do not guarantee that it will most certainly work for you.

First and foremost, you need to have a higher Trainer level. The higher the level the better chances you will get of encountering a rare Pokemon. Items such as Lures and Incense (including the Daily Adventure Incense) can be a great help, so be sure to use them on your quest on finding a rare Pokemon. Some “studies” have shown that the longer you play Pokemon Go, the higher chance there is of you encountering a rare Pokemon.

As you know, Pokemon prefer to hang out in clusters (or nests as the Pokemon Go community likes to call it), so the best way is to put on your walking shoes and explore your area, or any area that you may suspect has a nest of a certain rare Pokemon. These nests are more frequent during in-game events, so this is a good time to take advantage of the active bonuses. These nests may be common, but some nests can appear only once in a certain area, and to make it all easier, you can join a group where you can find any info on possible nests in your area.

If this does not work, the next step is to start joining more five-star Raids. The Pokemon by themselves are rare, and as these Raids happen all over the world, you can use the Remote Raid Passes to get a Pokemon that is not available in your area at that moment.

Another way of getting a rare Pokemon is trading. If any friend of yours is willing to trade a rare Pokemon, then that is the fastest and easiest way of getting a rare Pokemon. The “harder” way is through Special Research quests. These types of quests almost always feature a Pokemon that is rare in some way, being a Shiny Pokemon, a Pokemon that is almost never seen as a wild encounter or a Raid Boss, or simply having good stats. Plus, you will be closer to completing your PokeDex.

However, if you are not sure whether you are seeing a rare Pokemon on your screen, then our advice is to catch every Pokemon that you see on your map. If luck is on your side, you might get a rare Pokemon.
