Escape From Tarkov blocks “DWM_lut” to retain fairplay

First Nvidia Freestyle, now DWM_lut goes down the drain.

Escape From Tarkov is probably the most realistic and punishing first-person shooter out there. Currently, in Beta, the game has no goals reached, and it’s still developing as we course throughout the timeline. While still in Early Access, players want to enhance their gameplay experience by improving the game’s imagery by using a variety of third-party applications, for which Battlestate Games is very strict.

On Monday, the developer revealed that yet another image enhancer from the likes of Nvidia Freestyle had been put to a halt. That is DWM_lut, another program that allows the use of specific filters that cannot be accessed via the game.

As per the official announcement by Battlestate Games:

DWM_lut is now officially blocked due to the large number of uses of specific filters to obtain an unfair advantage. If you are having problems with launching the game – remove DWM_lut/files from the PC, otherwise the game will be unavailable.

Furthermore, the developer potentiated that there won’t be bans associated with DWM_lut, which means anyone using it will still be able to play the game but will be forced to do it without it. However, Battlestate Games didn’t forget to mention that the use of any similar software in the future will be considered a breach of the game’s Terms of Service and probably result in a ban.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
