Pokemon Go Chasing Legends Special Research Branching Quest Storyline

Trainers, the Pokemon Go Tour Hoenn Global event introduces a new Special Research in the game called Chasing Legends. Completing this Research will lead to an encounter with Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre.

The Pokemon Go Tour Hoenn Global experience runs from February 25, 2023, to February 26, 2023, featuring a lot of cool stuff, new shiny Pokemon, event-exclusive bonuses, new features and items, a Masterwork Research featuring shiny Jirachi, and a Special Research quest Chasing Legends.

“Trainers around the world will be able to enjoy Special Research featuring none other than Rhi from the GO Ultra Recon Squad. Professor Willow has tasked Rhi with researching Hoenn folklore about the Red and Blue Orbs – items which are said to have some connection to Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon – and Rhi needs your help!”

The Chasing Legends Special Research is a branching quest where players search for a specific Pokemon. Rhi and the Team Leaders are searching for the Red and Blue Orbs and once they have the Orbs, things will go back to normal. Check out the storyline below.

Chasing Legends Research Quest Storyline

“%PLAYERNAME%! I can’t tell you how much of a relief it is to see you.

The weather’s still going haywire, and multiple Pokemon Trainers have confirmed sightings of Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon, as well as a streak of destruction in their wake.

Rhi and the Team Leaders are still searching for the Red and Blue Orbs. It’s said the Orbs once resolved a similar incident in Hoenn, so I’m hoping they’ll do the same for us now.

Once we have the Orbs, things’ll go back to normal – and if we’re lucky, we’ll be able to figure out what caused this surge of natural energy to begin with. That’s my wish, at least.

Rhi left in that direction. If you hurry, you can catch up, %PLAYERNAME%!

A wise choice, %PLAYERNAME%. If you make use of Incense as we search, we may be able to locate this Pokemon with more ease.

Are you already familiar with the Red and Blue Orbs?

Professor Willow informed me they originate from a “Hoenn” region.

The Orbs have some influence over Primal Reversion, the transformation Kyogre and Groudon undergo when they absorb an abundance of natural energy.

A region capable of making such artifacts must be full of mysteries to illuminate.

Perchance someday, I could visit Hoenn and investigate if there are any learnings from their myths that can be applied to Ultra Beasts.

Anywhere you go, there are always interesting Pokemon that call that place home. Don’t you find that to be the case –

Ah. I see the Pokemon you chose to follow earlier, just a bit away. Let us proceed, %PLAYERNAME%.

It’s always a delight to watch you in action, %PLAYERNAME%.

This chase has led us past a diverse array of Pokemon. It could signal there is something of interest nearby, such as one of the Orbs.

It is also a possibility Pokemon are attracted to natural energy, meaning that one of the Primal Pokemon is close by…

Well, it matters not. I’m confident you and your Pokemon could stave off Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon, if we were to encounter them. In the meantime, let’s refresh what we know of Kyogre and Groudon.

According to Professor Willow, Groudon has long been described in mythology as the Pokemon that raised lands and expanded continents.

Legends tell of its many clashes against Kyogre, as each sought to gain the power of nature. Could Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon be clashing now, causing the strange weather conditions?

And there’s another strange thing. A scarlet glint, coming from that cave. Can you see it? No? Fret not. I shall investigate.

In the meantime, I hear a primal cry growing nearer. Could it be Primal Groudon, %PLAYERNAME%?

Thank you for keeping Primal Groudon at bay, %PLAYERNAME%. Here is my contribution – the Red Orb.

The cave it was in was most impressive. The Red Orb shone with a brilliant crimson light, atop something like an altar. Perhaps it was an object of worship in a time long past.

The Blue Orb is left. It is associated with Kyogre, is it?

I have read that Kyogre is able to create massive rain clouds that cover the entire sky and bring about torrential downpours. It has appeared in mythology as the creator of the sea.

The sea…the way the sunlight glitters on the waters of this world is enchanting. I haven’t seen anything like it in my hometown. Someday, I shall bring you to visit, %PLAYERNAME%.

But, I can hear Primal Kyogre nearby. If I could trouble you to handle the situation, I will continue to canvas the area.

Resplendent, %PLAYERNAME%.

While you were away, I followed the path of the rain’s runoff. It led me to another mysterious cavern, filled with an azure light. The Blue Orb was atop a shining altar. I wish you could have seen it – but here. I have retrieved the orb.

Now, with both of the Orbs in our possession, Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon will cease their rampage.

The weather conditions should soon stabilize, and nature will once more be in harmony.

Thank you for your company. I would not have been able to recover the Orbs without your advice and your Pokemon as protection.

Before we return to Professor Willow, I have one more favor to ask of you.

All our talk of Kyogre and Groudon’s might has sparked my curiosity.

As it will no no longer pose a threat, could you give a demonstration of Primal Reversion, %PLAYERNAME%?

%PLAYERNAME%! There you are. The weather’s finally clearing up! Which can only mean you and Rhi must’ve succeeded in finding the Red and Blue Orbs.

Amazing as usual, both of you. We’re in good hands even without Rayquaza to settle Kyogre and Groudon’s arguments when we’ve got you two, huh?

It’s said Rayquaza would descend to the ground if Kyogre and Groudon were to fight, but maybe you got the jump on it. Rayquaza would have to be Mega speedy to get ahead of you two!

While you and Rhi were off saving the day, I had some time to think about what could’ve caused the surge of natural energy to begin with. My top theory so far is –

Hold on, did you see that, %PLAYERNAME%?! Something bright just flew across the sky – could it be a Pokemon?

Looks like we’ve still got some exploring to do, as always!

You know where to find me when you’re ready to continue your Pokemon journey. But until then, thanks again, %PLAYERNAME%. Things just wouldn’t be the same without you around!

Greetings, %PLAYERNAME%.

It has been awhile since our last mission. I would not have been able to learn of this world and keep the Ultra Beasts at bay without your assistance back then.

You are here to assist in finding the Red and Blue Orbs, is it? Your company is most welcome, despite these dire circumstances.

I surmise following a Pokemon will give us a good lead on finding these Orbs. Pokemon seem to be well attuned to natural energy.

Please select a Pokemon, %PLAYERNAME%.”
