Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day 2023 and Luvdisc Limited Research Day Details

Love is in the air, and so are many Pokemon debuts during the upcoming Valentine’s 2023 event.

Starting February 8th, 2023, and ending February 14th, 2023, Trainers will have the chance to get a new Mega Pokemon, and that Mega Pokemon is Mega Gardevoir. This brand new Pokemon will come to Pokemon Go through Mega Raids, and with a new move. If you evolve Kirlia during the event into Gallade or Gardevoir, you will get a Gallade or Gardevoir with the Charged Attack Synchronoise.

Shiny Frillish will also be joining Pokemon Go through a Timed Research named Lovely Wishes. Depending on which path you will choose, you will get either a bonus of extra XP for catching Pokemon, extra Candy for catching Pokemon or increased Daily Adventure Incense. Of course, you will be guaranteed an encounter with Frillish.

The bonuses that will be active during the whole event are:

  • 2x Stardust from opening Gifts
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for two hours

Would it be a Pokemon Go event without a Global Challenge? It would not be, right? So for that purpose, starting February 7th, 2023, and ending on February 14th, 2023, there will be an active Global Valentine’s Challenge, and this time it will be all about gifting. The bonuses that will be unlocked if enough Gifts are sent are:

  • Global Challenge Bonus: 3x Transfer Candy for the remainder of the event
  • Global Challenge Bonus: 2x Transfer Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and up for the remainder of the event
  • Global Challenge Goal: Send 100,000,000 Gifts

Something that is fairly new in Pokemon Go events is form changes. For the Valentine’s Day event, Natural Form Furfrou can be changed into Heart Trim Furfrou, and to do that you need to select Furfrou from your Pokemon storage and tap the Change Form button, where every available Trim will be available.
