Far Cry 5 Celebrates 5th Anniversary with 30 Million Players Milestone

Ubisoft‘s open-world first-person shooter, Far Cry 5, has reached a significant milestone as it celebrates its 5th anniversary, surpassing 30 million players worldwide. The announcement comes after releasing a 60 FPS patch for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, improving the game’s performance on current-gen consoles.

The official Far Cry 5 Twitter profile shared the news of the milestone, expressing gratitude to fans for their continued support:

Over 30 million players have joined the fight against Joseph Seed’s cult since the release of Far Cry 5, 5 years ago. Thank you for taking this journey with us. We’re glad you’re enjoying the #FarCry5Anniversary celebration and the new 60 FPS patch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

While this achievement may not directly correlate with the number of sales, it is undoubtedly a remarkable accomplishment for the franchise. Initially launched in March 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, Far Cry 5 became the fastest-selling game in the franchise, with launch sales exceeding $310 million.

Ubisoft appears to be looking to the future with ambitious plans for the Far Cry series. Rumors suggest that the developer is working on two new titles, including a single-player-focused Far Cry 7 and a multiplayer-only game, Project Maverick. The latter is said to be an exaction shooter set in Alaska, with both titles targeting a Fall 2025 release.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
