PlayStation 5 Pro Rumored Development

Boy, oh boy, it has been a very eventful week in the PlayStation community. From PlayStation 6 to release dates, we might soon get a new PlayStation 5.

The well-known reliable source, Insider Gaming, has basically confirmed that indeed there is a PlayStation 5 Pro console in the works. Apparently, the release date of a PlayStation 5 Pro console is set around late 2024. To remind ourselves a little bit, there were also some chats about a possible PS5 with a detachable disc drive. Again, this was uncovered by Insider Gaming. There were also talks about a PlayStation 6 around 2027, but that is currently left for the birds.

From what we could understand, it seems that this supposed PS5 with a detachable disc drive will be replacing the “regular” PlayStation 5, however, a PlayStation 5 Pro console will not be doing that.

As for specs, which we all are interested in, so far, there are rumors that the supposed PlayStation 5 Pro model will have a better ray tracing performance (published patent by Mark Cerny, PS Architect), better visuals, speed, and better overall performance. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, nor do we expect that to happen in the following weeks. Bummers.

Next in line is the biggest event in the industry, called E3 2023. Throughout the years we have seen many revelations during those few days, so we hope that something will be officially confirmed by Sony at E3 2023.

Do you think that we might be getting a PlayStation 5 Pro? What is your opinion on this?
