Returnal PC Patch Improves Optimization, Reduces Crashes, and Fixes Bugs

Housemarque and Climax Studios have released a new patch for Returnal on PC via Steam, aiming to improve optimization, reduce crashes, and fix other bugs. The patch addresses various issues that players have reported, such as stuttering, crashes, and incorrect resolution display.

One of the key improvements is multiple optimization enhancements to reduce stuttering on CPUs with fewer than eight cores. The patch also updates the PSO system to reduce stuttering when Ray Tracing is enabled. Furthermore, the patch fixes a crash that can occur when finding or using translocators and another crash that can occur during combat or high particle effect situations.

In addition, the patch enables Intel’s XeSS screen scaling technology on non-Intel hardware, fixes a blocker that occurs when killing the Typhonops and using a Reconstructor, and corrects the display of resolutions in 3840×1600. The installation process has also been optimized to reduce file size.
