Capcom Sets Ambitious Sales Target for Street Fighter 6, Confirms Cross-Play Support for Future Games

Capcom has big plans for Street Fighter 6, targeting over 10 million lifetime sales for the highly anticipated game. Speaking with Famitsu magazine, Capcom representative director Haruhiro Tsujimoto detailed the company’s plans and expectations for the upcoming title, which is slated for release on June 2nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.

The company’s ambitious sales target comes from the successful Street Fighter 5, which has sold over seven million copies. Tsujimoto explained that the company aims to push the envelope further, learning from the previous game’s shortcomings and enhancing various aspects of the franchise. This includes focusing on e-sports and expanding the genre base for the game.

To keep up with the times and meet player demands, Tsujimoto also confirmed that future Capcom titles, including the next iteration of Monster Hunter, will support cross-platform play. This feature is expected to play a significant role in the company’s future direction, with the development of Exoprimal helping Capcom accumulate the necessary know-how.

The focus on cross-platform play is a welcome move, as it addresses one of the most sought-after features by fans. With 80% of Capcom’s sales now being digital, it seems that the company is committed to adapting to the changing landscape of gaming and ensuring that its titles remain accessible and engaging for players across various platforms.
