MultiVersus Temporarily Delisted as Player First Games Prepares for Major Overhaul and Full Launch

Player First Games has officially delisted its popular title, MultiVersus, from online storefronts. The move comes as the company shifts its focus toward improving the game and preparing for a full launch in early 2024. Current owners can still download and play the game, but the open beta will go offline on June 25th, marking the end of an era for the once-thriving title.
MultiVersus, a massive hit since its launch in July 2022, saw an impressive 144,000 concurrent players on its first day through Steam alone. Within two weeks, the player count skyrocketed to 10 million, and in less than a month, 20 million players were engaged in the game. However, various bugs, changes to the Mastery Track, and other unpopular updates led to a significant decline in the player base.
In response to the dwindling numbers, Player First Games has decided to take the open beta offline and concentrate on refining the game for its full launch. The development team plans to improve matchmaking, update the netcode, and revamp the progression system, among other enhancements.
Player First Games took to Twitter to announce the delisting and reassure players that the game’s removal is temporary:
MVPs, as of now, #MultiVersus is no longer downloadable for new players and has been temporarily removed from storefronts, along with Gleamium. You can play online modes until June 25 before the game goes offline in preparation for launch. For more info:
