16-Bit 2D Platformer Tiny Thor Arrives on PC this June

Prepare for a nostalgia-infused journey as the 16-bit 2D platformer Tiny Thor prepares to land on Windows PC via Steam on June 5th. This throwback to the golden age of gaming comes from Asylum Square, a developer known for its indie delights, and IndieForge, the indie publishing arm of Gameforge.

Set against a backdrop of classic gaming aesthetics, Tiny Thor draws players into a retro-styled universe where they assume the role of the legendary Norse god, Thor. The game cleverly intertwines puzzles, secret locations, and epic enemies, immersing players in an adventurous quest reminiscent of those fond Saturday morning gaming sessions.

A notable game feature is Thor’s ricocheting hammer, a unique gameplay mechanic used to solve puzzles and combat adversaries. This tool adds a strategic layer to the platforming gameplay, asking players to consider their actions carefully as they progress through each level.

True to its Norse inspiration, Tiny Thor includes a familiar antagonist in the form of Loki, the God of Mischief. Set as one of the formidable bosses in the game, his presence intensifies the mythological undertones and offers a challenging adversary for players.

At the heart of Tiny Thor’s retro aesthetic is veteran pixel artist Henk Nieborg, whose previous work includes contributions to the beloved Spyro series. His distinct 16-bit art style lends an authentic retro feel to the game, merging nostalgia with high-quality design and execution.

The upcoming release of Tiny Thor will appeal to both long-time lovers of retro games and new players intrigued by the 2D 16-bit era. The game’s enthralling gameplay mechanics and deeply rooted mythology make it a title to look out for this June.

I am ANGE1K. I started playing video games a long time ago. In a blink of an eye, I became a hardcore gamer. A couple of years later, I traversed to the professional Counter-Strike 1.6 scene. After the competitive ERA, I managed to find the gaming industry amusing and started working on FGR. 8 years after founding FGR, my mission remains the same. That is to discover secrets within the gaming industry, create guides for all the games I play, and provide you with some important news. Oh, yeah, I post tons of patch notes too. At the time, I play everything that seems reasonable to play, make content about it and help gamers to the best of my abilities. P.S. Last time I counted how many hours I've spent in video games turned out to be 13+ years. And that was a long time ago too. Almost 24/7 in front of PC.
