Techland Celebrates a Decade of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger with Dying Light 2 Event

Techland, the developer of the acclaimed first-person shooter Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, is marking the game’s tenth anniversary with an exciting event in its hit title, Dying Light 2. This event, called “Undead or Alive,” will run from May 31 to June 7, introducing a variety of Call of Juarez-themed items and enemies into the post-apocalyptic world of Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2 players will have the opportunity to acquire a Gunslinger-themed Boomstick during the event. This unique weapon can be found near Special Infected, Postal Vans, Ambulances, and Military Trucks. Achieving specific goals during the event will allow players to unlock exclusive items reminiscent of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, including Ray McCall’s charm, Dynamite, a Bowie Knife (both as a weapon and a blueprint), and 25 Pilgrim Tokens that can be traded for gear at the Pilgrim Outpost website.

In addition to the event, Techland is releasing a special Gunslinger Bundle for $6.99. The bundle includes the Silas Greaves Outfit, the Gunslinger Paraglider, and the Dynamite and Bowie Knife blueprints.

Reflecting on the success of Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, Techland reminisced about the game’s development process and the unique experiences they had along the way. During the game’s production, Kamil Braun, the Lead Environment Artist recounted how the game’s original concept as a detective game evolved into the immersive Western tale it became. Adrian Sikora, currently a Game Producer, shared fond memories of building the narrative in an old room at Techland headquarters, dubbed ‘the bunker.’

Many team members reminisced about the sense of creative freedom, team collaboration, and the unique approach to storytelling and aesthetics that have allowed Call of Juarez: Gunslinger to maintain its charm over the past decade. Despite being developed relatively quickly and with a smaller team, the developers emphasized their dedication to creating a quality game that truly embodied the spirit of the Wild West.
