Trainers, Niantic and Pokemon Go announced the next in-game event, Dark Flames.
The Pokemon Go Dark Flames runs from June 29, 2023, to July 2, 2023, featuring Turtonator in Raids, and Mega Sableye in Mega Raids. Pokemon Go players can also enjoy the new bonuses, complete new Field Research tasks, and the Branching Timed Research.

Dark Flames Bonuses
- Additional 25% XP for completing raids
- Three additional Candy for completing raids
- Trainers level 31 and above will receive one additional Candy XL for completing raids
- Team Go Rocket Grunts using Fire-type and Dark-type Pokemon will appear more frequently at PokeStops and in balloons
- Incense is more likely to attract Fire-type Pokemon (excluding Daily Adventure Incense)
- Incense is more likely to attract Dark-type Pokemon (excluding Daily Adventure Incense)

- New Field Research tasks. Pokemon encounters: Alolan Meowth, Alolan Grimer, Alolam Marowak, Magmar, Sneasel, Litwick, and Turtonator
- Collection Challenge for 5000 XP, and 100 Houndoom Mega Energy
- Branching TImed Research for Premium Battle Pass, 15000 XP, and Dark/Fire Pokemon encounters
